Now is not the time to be stuck in front of a TV with nothing to watch.

It’s unclear how long we’ll all be confined to our homes, but we do know it’ll take some time before movie theaters are up and running again. And — in complete sincerity — there’s a lot of gratitude to be felt for the engineers and creatives who’ve spent the past several years building great streaming services.

Do-it-all streaming media players are household staples, but many people (including me!) are behind the curve. I’ve never bothered to get a TV for my apartment; instead, I’ve always just watched TV from my laptop, so I never gave much thought to devices like the Amazon Fire TV Stick.

But that’s changed now that I’m spending the next few (many?) weeks in my parents’ house. Their TVs are equipped solely with some sort of cable package that includes a Netflix app and nothing else. Love you, Netflix, but I also gotta have my HBO, Disney+, Hulu … you get the picture.

Right now, Amazon is offering Prime members its Fire TV Stick for $22, a $17 discount off the usual $39.99 price tag. The lower price applies to both existing and new Prime members. Disney+, I’m coming for you.
