Though toilet paper and hand sanitizers were the original panic buys, hair dye and other hair care essentials may be next.

Now that most hair salons are closed indefinitely, people are desperate to find ways to keep their hair looking fresh at home. Recent data from Nielsen reported that “sales for hair clippers have increased 166 percent and hair coloring products rose 23 percent from the same period last year,” according to CNN.

While many are embracing their natural looks, others are using this period as a time to experiment — and why not? Even a few celebs are changing up their signature ‘dos. For example, actress Hillary Duff recently sported a new blue ‘do on Instagram, to the delight of many fans.

Although blue may not be your color, you can play around with some fun and stylish temporary dyes. With pinks, blues and even sparkles, why not bring a little fun to that Zoom meeting?

But a word to the wise: “If you’re going to dye your hair at home, it’s better to stick to colors close to your natural color or darker,” Ulta Beauty Pro Team member Sean Godard told In The Know. “This avoids hot roots and unwanted warmth that happens when lifting hair color.”

Whether you’re looking for temporary dye, a way to keep your highlights or a way to change your look entirely, here’s a list of some of the most popular at-home dyes, toners and color kits still in stock.
