In April, the CDC officially recommended that all Americans wear face masks in public areas due to the ongoing global health crisis. Since then, the demand for masks has skyrocketed and brands like Steve Madden, LookHUMAN, Alice & Olivia, Caraa, Sanctuary and more have been working quickly to adjust their regular operations to include creating facial coverings.

Disney is the latest company to make cloth face masks and plans to donate all proceeds up to $1 million to MedShare, from now through September 30th. It will also donate one million cloth face masks to children and families in underserved and vulnerable communities in the U.S. through the same organization.

Disney is committed to serving the communities where we live and work. During these challenging times, we’re using the power of our timeless stories and beloved characters to address our guests’ needs for family-friendly reusable cloth face masks,” the ShopDisney website reads.

The Disney cloth face masks come in multiple prints and three different sizes for children and adults. Whether you’re a fan of Mickey Mouse, Baby Yoda or Princess Jasmine, you can wear some of your favorite Disney, Star Wars, Pixar and Marvel characters.

Pre-orders for the masks are currently available in packs of four for $19.99, with an expected initial ship date of July 15.

The CDC says people should be “wearing cloth face coverings in public settings where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain (e.g., grocery stores and pharmacies), especially in areas of significant community-based transmission.” Its recommendation is based on slowing down the spread of the virus from those who may not be showing symptoms but can still transmit it to others.

However, the CDC does not recommend cloth face masks for children under 2 years old, anyone who has trouble breathing or anyone who is unable to remove their own mask without assistance.

In order for a cloth mask to be effective, it should fit snugly against the side of the face, include multiple layers of fabric, allow for breathing without restriction and it should be able to be washed and dried without damage.
