There have been a number of times in my life when I’ve put my body through intense strain, from being on the college dance team to training for a full marathon. However, as I’ve gotten older (and more recently been confined to my couch in quarantine), I’ve learned that aches and pains are inevitable.

No matter how athletic or stationary you are, Theragun can help reduce knots and take away whatever pain is making you say, “Wow, I’m getting old.”

You may have seen Theragun on social media or at the gym; it’s a deep tissue percussive massager that’s used by professional athletes like Rob Gronkowski and Kyrie Irving, and also non-athletes at home. It’s a more natural solution to taking pain medication.

“A lot of people think of us as a fitness or recovery company, and it’s actually just a part of what we do,” Therabody CEO Ben Nazarian said at a press event. “It’s an important part, but that’s what people see, whether it’s the Lakers using it on Sunday against the Clippers on the court during a time out,” explaining that body issues can be outside of the fitness space.

“So much of what we do is actually helping people with ailments and muscle tension around body parts,” he added. “We’re always thinking about, how do we help people treat their body better?”

The device has gotten three upgrades over the years to make it more powerful, quieter and lighter, but never has the brand had a device so small that it could fit in a bag and be used on the go — until now. On Monday, May 4, the company released its fourth generation of devices: four new Theraguns, including the smallest, quietest and least expensive option ever, the Theragun Mini.

The Theragun Mini is about 5.5 inches wide and weighs 1.2 pounds, so it’s super portable. However, don’t be mistaken — this device packs some serious power. It has three speeds: 1750, 2100 and 2400 percussions per minute. Plus, it has 150 minutes of battery life, but takes only about 80 minutes to charge.

Even though the price of the Theragun Mini is still steep at $199, it is $100 cheaper than the brand’s original full-sized device. It’s also worth noting that Theragun does offer payment plans with affirm. And like all Theragun devices, the Mini comes with a one-year warranty, as well as a 30-day money-back guarantee.

To use any Theragun device, simply float it across any areas of your body that need treatment, gradually applying pressure as needed. Pro tip: Theragun also has a mobile app with guides for treating your body.

“I’ve had my Theragun for about 2 months now, and it has changed my life for the better,” one reviewer wrote on Theragun’s website, also adding that the G3PRO helped treat their plantar fasciitis and sore muscles. “I’ve also recommended it to friends, and those who have gotten one say the same thing. It has definitely been worth the investment.”

Other new devices launched on May 4 include the Theragun Prime ($299), the Theragun Elite ($399) and the Theragun Pro ($599). On the brand’s website, you’ll also find the Wave Roller ($149), which is a smart vibrating foam roller coming soon.

In addition to the new products, the brand is also changing its name to Therabody and henceforth using Theragun to describe a category of its products. The new name is helping the company focus more on overall wellness as it gears up to launch a line of USDA certified organic CBD-infused lotions, balms, oils and tinctures under the name TheraOne, available for purchase next month.
