Let’s face it, dealing with hair loss can be pretty difficult. Whether young or old, people take a lot of pride in their hair and watching it go from luscious locks to thinning strands is not acceptable.

While it’s more common for men to experience hair loss, women are affected, too. In fact, 40 percent of women make up hair loss sufferers, according to the American Hair Loss Association. Thankfully, there are ways to help give your thinning locks some new life.

For some shoppers, the Keranique Hair Regrowth Treatment for Women is part of the solution. It’s a spray that “absorbs into your scalp and immediately goes to work promoting healthy hair growth,” according to the product description.

It packs quite the punch. It contains two percent minoxidil — the active ingredient in Rogaine and the original FDA-approved treatment to help with male- and female-pattern baldness.

While there’s no debate that minoxidil can help those with hair loss, the way it works is still not fully known. Some believe it helps by increasing the blood flow to your scalp. Others say it extends the growth phrase of the hair follicle, known as the anagen phase. And still others believe that it increases the size of the hair follicle to promote thicker and stronger hair, according to HairClub.

For those who have tried the Keranique Hair Regrowth Treatment, it appears to be effective. For example, despite the product’s few reviews, it has a nearly perfect rating at the Dermstore.

“Good for sensitive skin/scalp,” one reviewer wrote. “I was losing my hair from going off of birth control (hairline). This helped to fix the problem. Can see all these little hairs growing in now :)”

Another buyer mentioned that though the results weren’t “instant,” they did notice a difference eventually.

“Wanted instant results from this which I know is unrealistic,” they explained. “It did not deliver immediately, but did work over time.”

At the same time, minoxidil isn’t effective for everyone and there can be side effects, such as scalp irritation. Additionally, it’s important to note that it will not be able to grow new hair if you’re already bald.
