Sunscreen is arguably considered the most vital element of any daytime skincare routine. From dermatologists and estheticians to skin cancer scientists, all of the powers that be in the skincare space unanimously agree that wearing sunscreen on a daily basis is non-negotiable.

According to the Skin Cancer Foundation, the benefits of wearing sunscreen are pretty profound. Regular daily use decreases the risk of skin cancers and skin precancers and helps prevent premature skin aging. Popular licensed esthetician LABeautyologist echoed this sentiment, sharing that wearing SPF also helps treat hyperpigmentation, prevents sunburns, protects against photosensitivity and reduces sun damage.

While this information is nothing new, the real hesitation for some comes in the formulas and thick, pasty applications that often come with traditional sunscreens. Luckily, Flesh has recently released an SPF that is said to be sheer and as lightweight as a serum. And after being sold out for at least two weeks, it’s finally back in stock!

The Sheer Flesh Hydrating SPF Serum is described as “your skin’s personal bodyguard” and is said to protect the skin from sun damage and pollution while keeping it hydrated, prepped and primed for potential makeup application.

Available in one universal shade (“sheer”), this product is said to be “a cool sunscreen” that’s “light as a feather and fast-absorbing.” It also does not look, feel or smell like the traditional sunscreens that have given the entire range a bad rap.

In addition to its no-white-cast-approved formula, this product checks all of the boxes in terms of performance. It is said to be “superb at delivering broad-spectrum SPF 35 protection against UVA/UVB rays.” It also is said to give the skin a “delightful dose” of hydration that lasts a full 24 hours, based on clinical tests.

As with any other sunscreen, it is advised that the Sheer Flesh Hydrating SPF Serum be applied as the last step of your skincare routine, before makeup application and at least 15 minutes before sun exposure. Sunscreens should also be reapplied every two hours when exposed to direct sunlight.

It should be noted that this product is not water-resistant. So, if you plan on swimming, surfing, or even bobbing for apples — it’s getting warmer outside — it’s recommended that you wear a water-resistant sunscreen instead.

Since the product was only recently released, it has not amassed tons of reviews just yet. However, among those who have tried it, they are substantially impressed.

“This is by far the best sunscreen I’ve ever used,” one five-star reviewer wrote. “The only sunscreen that doesn’t irritate my sensitive, combo skin! Doesn’t leave a white cast. I’m in awe.”

Another shopper echoed this sentiment, adding that it is “by far the most comfortable sunscreen I have ever worn.”
