Ask anyone when it comes to sleep preference, and I’m sure they’ll have an opinion on what helps them fall asleep faster and what they can’t stand.

While some may prefer cool, dark spaces to sleep in (myself included), others may love having natural light shine into their bedrooms to wake up with the sun.

But, for those who love to fall asleep in a cool environment without feeling sticky or sweaty (yes, I’m one of those), the type of sheets you have on your bed can make all the difference.

If you consider yourself a naturally “hot sleeper,” which is the unofficial term for those who wake up often from overheating at night, then you might want to consider investing in a set of sheets made with cooling materials.

For instance, if you love that cool-crisp touch of your sheets as you hop into bed, you’ll want to choose a set made with eucalyptus, bamboo, lyocell or cotton percale. But if you love sheets that feel light as a feather, linen should be your new go-to pick. No matter what you choose, all of these fabrics have that cool-to-the-touch feel and a more breathable quality compared to other sheet sets.

While in my career as a shopping editor, I’ve tried close to 30 different sheet sets, and I’ve finally narrowed down my top picks of cooling sheets to three options: 1. Buffy’s eucalyptus sheets 2. Brooklinen’s percale sheets and 3. Ettitude’s bamboo sheets — it’s too hard for me to only choose one!

And while a high-quality, queen-sized set of sheets can cost you an average of $150, there are more affordable options on Amazon that cost $30 or less. However, after several washes, I’ve realized that my higher-end sets do keep their softness longer than cheaper alternatives, which is something to consider while shopping.

Below, I’ve rounded up nine must-try cooling sheet sets that are best for hot sleepers.

1. Buffy Eucalyptus Sheets, $169–$229

Made with 100 percent eucalyptus, Buffy’s naturally dyed sheets are said to be softer than cotton and more breathable than linen, and I can attest to that. Even after several washes, this set won’t lose its softness. With more than 1,000 positive reviews that often refer to these sheets as “silk-like,” you’re not going to want to take them off your bed. Plus, if you just want to give them a trial run, you can sleep on the sheets for seven nights free before you pay.

2. Brooklinen Classic Percale Core Sheet Set, $99–$159

Brooklinen’s sheets quickly became internet-famous and for good reason. This percale cotton sheet set now has close to 10,000 near-perfect reviews because they feel like luxury hotel sheets that are light, airy and guaranteed to keep you cool all night long.

3. Amazon Mellanni Bed Sheet Set Brushed Microfiber, $35.97–$44.97

It’s well-known that Mellanni’s brushed microfiber sheets are a must-have from Amazon. With more than 53,000 five-star reviews, it’s clear this is a staple for your home if you don’t already have a set of your own. And if you’re looking for a cheap bedding upgrade, you can’t beat the affordable price, especially when they’re also silky-soft and wrinkle-resistant.

4. Ettitude Bamboo Lyocell Sheet Set, $138–$198

Ettitude’s bamboo sheets are made with 100 percent organic bamboo lyocell. And, because they have a 300 thread count that equals to a 1,000 cotton thread count, I’m serious when I say they are insanely soft. You’ll feel like you’re sleeping on buttery fabric that never fails to keep you cool. Not only are these sheets super comfy all night long, but they’re hypoallergenic and save 3,301 gallons of water in the manufacturing process compared to cotton.

5. Coyuchi 300 Thread Count Organic Sateen Sheets, $198–$258

As a true luxury set of sheets (the twin set starts at $198), this Coyuchi sheet set is the epitome of a splurge. Available in only five color options, your choices are a little limited, but it’s worth the cost if you’re looking for a heavier sheet that’s comfortable year-round, cooling and buttery soft.

6. Gravity Bamboo Sheets, $105–$115

Say goodbye to sleepless, sweaty nights with Gravity’s cooling and moisture-wicking sheets. Known for the original weighted blanket, Gravity ventured into bedding, and it’s already a customer-favorite. Because this set is also made of bamboo, it’s naturally deodorizing and has antimicrobial properties, so the sheets are both cooling and will keep clean between washes.

7. Parachute Percale Sheet Set, $109-$149

If you love a more minimalist color palette for your sheets, Parachute’s percale set is available in five chic colors. Since they’re made with 100 percent certified long-staple Egyptian cotton, they have that cool and crisp feel that lasts throughout the night. And if you’re one who doesn’t use a top sheet, the brand gives you the option to buy the set with or without one.

8. Amazon CGK Unlimited Hotel Luxury Bed Sheets, $27.99–$39.99

If you want hotel-quality sheets without breaking the bank, this microfiber set from Amazon is another great, less-costly option. Available in a myriad of colors (18 to be exact) and seven sizes, you’re going to want a set in every room. With a 4.4 out of five-star rating and 10,000-plus five-star reviews, customers love that these sheets are great for fitting deep mattresses and are super lightweight.

9. Snowe Percale Sheet Set, $200–$240

If you can’t decide which sheets to buy, you can try Snowe’s percale sheet set for 60 days, and if you don’t love them, you can get a refund. But if you’ve been searching for a cooling sheet set for a while, reviewers can’t stop saying that this 500 thread count set lives up to its cooling hype.
