Sometimes when you’re spooked the only thing you can do is hide.
Flash, a Golden Retriever from North Carolina, has his life documented on his Instagram, goldenlifeofflash. No matter what the adventure Flash is on, he’s too cute not to watch.
In one video the canine is not thrilled by a thunderstorm. When his owner comes home, he catches Flash stowed away in one of the strangest places: the laundry dryer.
“It is thundering outside,” the dog owner says in the video, laughing. “I come home and this man is in the dryer. What are you doing in there?”
Flash’s entire body is nestled in the dryer with just the snout of his nose peeking out from the door. At first, Flash looks like he thinks he’s in trouble but once his owner’s voice registers, the dog hops out and wags his tail.
Usually, dogs are afraid of thunder because they don’t understand the source of the noise. And let’s be real, it’s foreboding even when you do know it’s just Mother Nature. Much like Flash, it’s not uncommon for pets to hide under tables or bathtubs to feel safe.
One thing owners can do to ease the tension is to provide a background noise like the television or radio to help drown out the sound. Another option is simply distracting them with some playtime or a toy.
