Makeup guru Seth Obrien decided to do a little experiment with his protective face mask.
For one video, the beauty whiz got a little “extra” and did a full makeup look on top of the mask. The outcome is not the one he had hoped for, but it’s hard to figure out how to serve new beauty looks with half of your face covered with a mask.
“Honestly, was so tired of the face masks covering up my makeup look so I just decided to put my makeup over the mask!” Obrien wrote in the Instagram caption. “I would definitely wear this out but the fumes from the foundation were way too strong and it felt like I couldn’t breathe!”
Definitely don’t try this at home, but watch the experiment unfold instead. First, Obrien uses a beauty blender to add his foundation to his face and mask. Then, he adds undereye concealer and powder to bake his face. Next, he contours around the nose. Obrien then adds blush and highlight over the mask on his cheeks. He uses orange and yellow eyeshadow, liner and false lashes for eye makeup. Finally, he draws nude lips on the mask.
The end look is fierce — it’s unfortunate it’s not a viable option. Despite the hiccups, the look was a hit on Instagram but especially TikTok where it racked up 15.6 million views.
“Wait, this is kind of everything though,” one TikTok user commented.
“I just know this is gonna be a huge trend,” another said.
“But why does this look better than any makeup I’ve ever done,” one added.
