Organization is key — so is cleaning, storage, gardening and more. In this series, you’ll learn various tips and tricks to make gardening, grilling and even sewing easier. No matter the problem, there’s a Home Hack for that!

By now, you’ve most likely heard of Marie Kondo, author, TV show host and organization consultant extraordinaire. If you’ve caught a few episodes of her Netflix show, “Tidying Up,” or have read her best-selling book, “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up,” then you know that she has a sort of superpower when it comes to organizing homes.

While we can’t all be on Marie’s level, we can straighten up our homes in our own ways. Check out the video above for a few of our favorite hacks for decluttering.

For starters, if you find cleaning and downsizing a drag (who doesn’t?), set a timer for 15 to 20 minutes and use that time to do as much tidying up as you can. Once the timer goes off, take a break or consider yourself done for the day.

Now if your dining room table and kitchen counters have become overridden with letters and packages, designate one spot in your home to be a landing space for your mail and sort through it regularly. Pro tip: We find a cute, decorative tray to usually be all the motivation we need to keep our mail spot organized.

But perhaps the easiest hack for decluttering is to donate or give away things you don’t use anymore as often as you can. Whether you want to compile things for a weekly or monthly purge, you not only get to declutter your home, but you also get to give back to your community.
