Hip-hop power couple Cardi B and Offset celebrated their daughter Kulture Kiari Cephus’ second birthday on July 10. Cardi shared a few clips of the 2-year-old’s party which featured colorful face masks, temperature checks (hey, there’s a pandemic!), pink balloons, a DJ and a ball pit.
However, one gift from Offset got a mixed response from Instagram users. The doting dad bestowed a pink Birkin bag to the toddler. The Hermès accessory is a coveted luxury item that can range from $12,000 to over $200,000.
In the video, shared by the father, the Migos member is discernibly pretty stoked to be giving Kulture the pricey item.
“Look! Wow! It’s pretty,” Offset says in the clip as he opens the box, “It’s yours, mama. OK, girl! I see you, beautiful baby! It’s your Birkin.”
Kulture sporting a pink fairy dress, bunny ears and wings smiles as she briefly wears the bag on her arm. While some users expressed their support, others were more skeptical.
“Poor child, just wanted a dolly. Lol,” one Instagram user wrote.
Cardi B addressed the detractors in an Instagram story, according to Page Six. The “Bodak Yellow” rapper said that while she agreed kids aren’t all that concerned with expensive gifts, she wants Kulture to look as fly as her parents.
“Yeah, kids only care about toys and candy, but the thing is, the kids also go outside,” Cardi said, according to Page Six. “You know what I’m saying? Kids go to restaurants, kids go to fancy places. Celebrity kids, they go do red carpets. And if I’m fly and daddy’s fly, then so is the kid.”
