In Dream Big, Live Small, we visit tiny home-dwellers, discovering why they choose to live this way, how they manage it and the possibilities to do things like travel, learn and grow that have resulted from downsizing so significantly. In the long run, living small is really about living big.

Tiny house living takes commitment. With small spaces and less room for material things, you have to be willing and wanting to downsize. But for some families, the decision to be part of the tiny home movement is easy.

In this episode of Dream Big, Live Small, Jeremy and Lindsay Weaver settled on tiny house living in Chattanooga, Tennessee after they decided they would rather spend money on experiences rather than material goods

“Lindsay and I are both really into traveling, and we were looking at different housing options,” Jeremy said. “Living in a tiny house was going to give us more available cash to be able to do the stuff that we really wanted to do.”

Inside the couple’s home, no inch of wall space is wasted, and everything inside has a purpose. However, Lindsay knew she wanted a functioning (and a somewhat full-size) kitchen, so the space includes a four-burner stove.

To take advantage of all the vertical wall space, the couple also built a lot of open shelving to display personal touches.

“We wanted our whole interior to emulate our travels, so all of our pillows, pictures on the walls, paintings, everything, are all from places that we’ve traveled to around the world,” Lindsay said.

While the couple eventually plans to move into an 800 square-foot home on the same property once their baby gets older, they’re making the best of tiny house living.

“Living tiny has enabled us to be able to continue traveling,” Lindsay said.” And we were able to have a baby because of the money that we’ve been saving from going tiny. So it’s been nothing but beneficial to our lives.”
