Although I’m someone who has combination-oily skin, there are times in my life when I feel like my skin is just dry. Like, DRY. Honestly, I learned a long time ago that while you can determine and categorize your skin type, ultimately your skincare routine is unique and individual to you.
There are products in my beauty arsenal made for combination-oily skin, but there are other products made for drier skin types that add necessary hydration when I need it. As someone who also has pretty sensitive skin with frequent skin flareups, I need to have a gentle cleanser around.
One of those products is the CeraVe facial cleanser, which is made for normal to dry skin but is a staple in my wash routine.
Shop: CeraVe Hydrating Face Wash, $14.64+
A 2019 Allure Best of Beauty award winner, the CeraVe facial cleanser boasts a winning formulation of ceramides and hyaluronic acid to help retain your skin’s moisture. If you’re someone who also has super sensitive skin, you’ll love that the cleanser gently removes dirt, oil and makeup without leaving your skin tight or irritated.
With over 7,000 reviews, it’s clear to see this facial cleanser is a fan-favorite, which is probably why it’s one of Amazon’s best sellers.
“I was kind of hesitant at first because the texture is like lotion, but don’t let it fool you! It’s such a great face wash. I have struggled with my acne for years and have tried a billion different products and none of them worked like this one,” wrote one happy customer.
One customer, on the other hand, pointed out that they felt the consistency was “too thick on the skin,” and that it “doesn’t feel like it’s cleaning very well.”
However, a potential explanation for that could be that the cleanser has a non-foaming formulation, which is recommended for dry skin but may leave customers feeling like they don’t achieve that squeaky-clean wash.
We would recommend doing a patch test on the skin with this product, using it for a few days alongside your normal skincare regimen, to see if it works for you.
All I can say is this is a great cleanser that doesn’t strip your skin but gives it a thorough cleanse.
