Tony Hawk coaches 12-year-old skateboarder down 100-foot ramp: ‘This is so metal’

A middle school girl is defying gravity and expectations with a little coaching from Tony Hawk.

Sky Brown is a 12-year-old professional skateboarder. Small but mighty, she’s currently ranked as the third-best skater in the world. In fact, Sky will be representing Team Great Britain in the 2021 Tokyo Summer Olympics. She’s the real deal, but for athletes like her, there’s always a new challenge to conquer.

Sky took on pro-skater Elliot Sloan’s mega ramp. The steep ramp, located in his backyard, is 100-feet tall. While Sky is definitely a pro, the vertical drop is nothing short of intimidating. Hawk and Sloan were there to coach the legend-in-the-making.

“I got a request from Sky Brown to help her learn Elliot Sloan’s mega ramp,” Hawk wrote on Twitter. “I hadn’t done it for a few years so it was a good excuse to relearn while helping her. Here’s the video I shot of her first and third attempts (there was an airbag below).”

The footage is heartstopping. Sky positions her skateboard on the edge of the ramp, but she hesitates. The drop is steep, high and the pressure is on.

“You got it, Sky!” Hawk is heard cheering off-screen. “You got it!”

Eventually, Sky commits. She quickly drops and when she lands the first time around, she’s launched into the airbag. But on her third try, she is able to secure a smooth landing and connects with a second ramp before safely falling.

The impressive ride received 8.8 million views on Twitter

“This is so metal. Good for her!” one Twitter user wrote

“Dude the video of her third try is insane!” another said

“What the hell? She’s so brave and cool,” one person wrote
