The streaming wars of 2020 have been seemingly never-ending with the likes of Apple TV Plus, Disney Plus, HBO Max and more competing for consumer loyalty. The latest to throw its hat in the ring is Peacock, NBCUniversal’s new streaming service. And unlike its competitors, this service offers basic subscribers free access to thousands of hours of programming. Yes, free.

What is Peacock?

Peacock is NBCUniversal’s new streaming service that launched in July 2020. It delivers a slew of original programs and on-demand hit TV series, including the likes of “The Office,” “30 Rock” and “Parks and Recreation.”

Critically-acclaimed films from the vaults of Universal Pictures, Focus Features, DreamWorks Animation, Illumination and more studios are also available exclusively for Peacock subscribers.

Free streaming? How?

So, here’s how it works: Peacock‘s biggest draw, which sets it apart from the other streaming juggernauts on the market, is that it offers a free tier that anyone can access. What’s even better is that you don’t even need a credit card to subscribe.

To sign up, all you have to do is enter your email address and create a password — and that’s it. After verifying your credentials, you can immediately begin streaming hundreds of Peacock-exclusive programming.

Peacock’s Free Tier offers hundreds of movies, comedies, dramas, reality shows, reality competition series and more, including “Jurassic Park,” “The Matrix,” Saturday Night Live,” “Everybody Hates Chris,” “Friday Night Lights,” “Heroes,” “Murder She Wrote,” “Below Deck,” “Top Chef Masters,” “Hell’s Kitchen” and more.

Can more features be unlocked?

If you would like to experience everything that Peacock has to offer (literally, everything), there are two additional tiers to consider: Peacock Premium and Peacock Premium Plus.

For $4.99 a month, subscribers can upgrade to Peacock Premium to enjoy unlimited movies, series, seasons, sports programs and more. This same offer is offered with an ad-free advantage with Peacock Premium Plus, which retails for $9.99 a month.

Each of these two Premium options comes with a seven-day free trial after which users can convert their service to a paid subscription.
