Photographer gets hit by bike during proposal gone wrong

A word of caution: If you’re going to photograph a milestone moment, avoid standing in the bike lane while you do so.

One man named Joshua — or officialjoshyjosh on TikTok — learned this the hard way when, while photographing a friend’s proposal, he got hit by a biker.

On Sept. 22, Joshua uploaded a video of the unfortunate (albeit hilarious) moment to TikTok.

At first, the video starts out sweet and wholesome as ever. Down on one knee, Joshua’s friend can be seen in a dapper gold suit proposing to his girlfriend on the Brooklyn Bridge while someone takes a video and Joshua snaps photos.

Joshua made the grave mistake of venturing into the bike lane on the Brooklyn Bridge to get the perfect shot, however, and he paid the ultimate price for it. While maneuvering around to get photos from a different angle, Joshua didn’t see a biker heading his way, so the two ended up colliding.

“You good bro?” Joshua’s friend asks him immediately after the collision. Once he realizes that Joshua is fine, he jokes, “It’s OK. It’s in the video, but we gonna edit that.”

People had a lot to say about this “messy” proposal.

Some users blamed Joshua for being in the bike lane on one of the most crowded bridges in New York City.

“I think it’s common sense not to be in the way of the bike lane,” one person said.

“I mean literally your own fault you got hit tho,” another user added.

“Why there tho!” a third person commented, referring to the location of the proposal. “Always crowded. I think it’s just inconsiderate.”

Other users thought the biker was rude, even if Joshua wasn’t where he was supposed to be.

“Cyclists are some of the rudest people,” one person said. “They will not move.”

“NYC bikers are just totally different lmao,” another person agreed.

Most people agreed, though, that either way, the video was pretty hilarious.

“This literally gets funnier every time,” someone commented.

“Funniest moment of 2020,” another user said.

“Good story to tell,” someone else noted.

Maybe it wasn’t the proposal Joshua’s friend was going for, but it’s certainly a proposal to remember!
