Noah Cyrus tells fans to wear a mask, then parties maskless with Tana Mongeau

Noah Cyrus is being called out online after preaching to her fans about wearing a mask and then going out partying without one.

On Sept. 26, the younger Cyrus sister posted on her Instagram account encouraging her followers to “just wear the damn masks.” In the photos she posted, Cyrus is wearing a stylish velour mask with a Louis Vuitton logo on it.

Not even 24 hours later, Cyrus then attended a party with rumored girlfriend Tana Mongeau where Diplo was DJing — and all three of them are very clearly not wearing masks. Based on videos and photos posted to Instagram, it appears as though several dozen people attended the party, including influencer Jon Marianek.

Though people have come to expect this behavior from Mongeau, who has been spotted at countless parties amid the pandemic, it was a surprising turn of events for Cyrus, especially seeing as she urged fans to wear a mask just hours before attending the gathering.

Many fans took to social media to point out Cyrus’ hypocrisy, noting that her actions “send kind of a confusing message to people.”

“Practice what you preach to your young audience,” one person wrote on Cyrus’ Instagram post. “You really are not setting an example.”

“It’s the partying after taking this picture for performative activism for me,” another added.

“Okay but you should wear the damn mask too,” a third said.

As of Sept. 12, all public gatherings in California are strictly prohibited to limit the spread of COVID-19. A recent statement issued by the California Department of Public Health defined gatherings as “meetings or other events that bring together people from different households at the same time in a single space, or place.” (House parties are definitely considered public gatherings.)
