Nessa Barrett is a teenage singer and TikToker with a massive following. Barrett has 12.1 million TikTok followers, 526,000 YouTube subscribers and 4 million Instagram followers as of Nov. 19.

Additionally, Barrett is a mental health advocate who has been open about being bullied and her recent bipolar diagnosis. Nevertheless, the New Jersey native hasn’t been without controversy from who she is dating to some problematic behavior.

How old is Nessa Barrett?

Barrett, who is of Puerto Rican descent, was born on August 6, 2002, in New Jersey. Her little brother Julian also appears in some of her TikTok videos

She recently launched her music career with the song ‘Pain.’

Barrett dropped her debut single “Pain” in July 2020, the somber, piano ballad currently has over 10 million views.

She followed up the single with “if you love me,” a breakup anthem, in October.

She dated fellow TikTok star Josh Richards.

Barrett started dating the Sway Hous member after meeting on TikTok in October 2019 until June 2020. Their joint YouTube vlog “We Broke Up” has over 8.9 million views

“We realized that we needed to mature and we needed to grow as people. We were in a very serious relationship but we weren’t ready for as serious as it was,” Richards said in the video.

She was involved in a cheating scandal with Chase Hudson.

Thhere was this rumor that Chase Hudson, aka Lil Huddy, cheated on Charli D’Amelio with Barrett in April — the same month Hudson and D’Amelio split.

“All of this drama going on because I kissed Nessa when we were both single,” Hudson tweeted

“Then you shouldn’t have come to my house after without telling me,” D’Amelio replied to him

Hudson then aired basically everyone on TikTok’s dirty laundry as revenge. Eventually, Barrett admitted that she kissed Hudson after all.

“Yes, Chase kissed me and nothing else happened after that. I can speak for the both of us that it didn’t mean anything,” Barrett told Us Weekly. “The narrative that is being spun around me is one of hate and slut-shaming and the constant DMs and emails of people telling me I’m stupid and should kill myself are getting to be too much for to me bear.”

She came under fire for posting a TikTok in which she danced to an audio recording of a man reciting the Quran.

Barrett came under fire in March when she danced to a recitation from the Quran. Many Muslims were offended by the act and Barrett apologized.

“I am truly and deeply sorry to those that I have hurt and offended,” she said in a video.
