Who is Chase Hudson? Meet the man known as Lil Huddy

With TikTok being the social media platform du jour, TikTok celebrities are basically household names. But while most people with a smartphone can identify these internet influencers from a photo, they don’t know all that much about their personal lives (unless, of course, they’re superfans).

To help the average social media consumer become more acquainted with some of TikTok’s biggest stars, we’ve compiled some basic information about Chase Hudson, aka Lil Huddy. Hudson — with 28.1 million TikTok followers, 10.5 million Instagram followers and 1.72 million YouTube subscribers at the time of writing — is easily one of the most recognizable teens on the app, and also one of the most interesting.

Chase Hudson/Lil Huddy rose to fame as one of the co-founders of the Hype House.

Chase Hudson — aka Lil Huddy — was born on May 15, 2002 in Stockton, Calif. The 18-year-old e-boy joined TikTok back when it was Musical.ly, though he didn’t become famous until years later. He was still in high school when he really started to blow up on TikTok, which led him to leave after sophomore year and finish up online.

In December 2019, Hudson and YouTube star Thomas Petrou founded Hype House, a content creation house that, at its founding, was home to some of the biggest stars on TikTok, including Addison Rae, Tony Lopez and Charli and Dixie D’Amelio. To date, the official Hype House TikTok has 19.6 million followers — not that many less than Hudson’s 28.1 million.

Hype House is arguably the most successful content creator collective, and that’s largely thanks to Hudson. Under his leadership, the TikTok collective signed with WME in all areas, including fashion, modeling, music, touring, commercials, film and television and licensing. He and Petrou also work hard to grow Hype House members’ followings — not just on TikTok, but also on YouTube, Instagram and other social media platforms.

Hudson and fellow TikTok star Charli D’Amelio dated for a while.

Chase Hudson and former Hype House member Charli D’Amelio were the TikTok couple when they dated from late 2019 to April 2020.

In November 2019, Hudson and D’Amelio started to spark dating rumors as they appeared more and more in each other’s videos. In the comments, stans didn’t hesitate to point out that the pair had palpable chemistry.

By December 2019, the TikTok stars were pretty out in the open about their relationship. On Dec. 30, tiktokroom posted a photo of the pair holding hands at Target, and a day later, someone captured a video of the couple kissing on New Year’s Eve. Regardless, they still refused to confirm anything about their relationship status.

All through January, Hudson and D’Amelio continued to deny dating rumors, all the while posting lovey-dovey photos on Instagram and making couple-y videos together on TikTok. Then, on Feb. 14, they finally confirmed what everyone knew all along, posting heartfelt Valentine’s Day tributes to each other on Instagram.

Things between Hudson and D’Amelio were going well for a while — until cheating rumors started to circulate that is. On March 20, fellow TikTokers Josh Richards released a diss track titled “Still Softish” accusing Lil Huddy of sending explicit DMs to his then-girlfriend Nessa Barret. Hudson denied the accusations, but on April 13, both he and D’Amelio announced via Instagram that their relationship was over.

Following the breakup, Hudson and D’Amelio continued to appear in each other’s videos and post about each other on social media. Fans speculated that the two might get back together, but then July 6 happened.

What happened with Hudson on July 6, 2020?

July 6, 2020, will go down as one of the messiest and most drama-filled days in TikTok history. After months of being subjected to rumors thanks to Richards’ diss track and cheating accusations, Hudson finally spilled the tea on Twitter, accusing several of his famous friends of doing some shady things themselves.

“Since all my drama has to be put on the internet for the world to judge me, let’s lay out everyone else’s,” Hudson said.

“Anthony [Reeves] got with Cynthia [Parker] a week after we broke up on tour,” he claimed about his friend and his ex-girlfriend.

“Jaden [Hossler] actively tried to hook up with Dixie [D’Amelio] at our house on the 4th of July in front of me while she was dating Griffin [Johnson]. Griffin cheated on Dixie with Tayler [Holder]’s ex Kaylyn [Slevin] and Bryce [Hall]’s ex Elle [Danjean].” (More on that here.) “Kio [Cyr] cheated on Olivia [Ponton].”

“The only person who has a right to be upset with me is Charli and I’m sorry I hurt her,” he continued. “We broke up and I messed up by kissing Nessa. I am not sorry to Josh, we are not boys and we haven’t been boys since he lied to Charli saying I had an STI 6 months ago trying to get her to stop seeing me. I’m not going to let these hypocrites try and ruin my life without their lives being out on the internet too.”

Naturally, Hudson’s tweet didn’t go over well with his famous friends and ex-girlfriend.

In a now-deleted tweet, D’Amelio called Hudson out for not taking responsibility for his actions.

“Want me to talk about how you treated me throughout our relationship or do you just want to continue to play the victim?” she said in a brutal response.

Other people named in the tweet, meanwhile, came at Hudson for airing their dirty laundry.

“Sometimes you need to cut out the fake people in your life,” Richards said in response to the tweet.

“Boy you need to ONE stop lying and giving half the truth to make yourself look better and TWo when we pulled up and confronted you in person you didn’t say s*** except you were wrong,” Hossler also said directly in response to Hudson’s tweet. “Sit down and be quiet on social media if you aren’t gonna talk in person.”

Johnson, meanwhile, just laughed it off.

“Someone get this kid off the internet,” he wrote.

People think Hudson and D’Amelio might be getting back together.

Recently, some eagle-eyed fans noticed that Hudson and D’Amelio have been sporting matching rings, which look a lot like the promise rings couples wear.

However, when confronted by paparazzi, Hudson claimed that these were just friendship rings, and that it was D’Amelio’s idea to wear them.

Of course, fans don’t believe Hudson’s explanation for the matching heart-shaped rings. Only time will tell whether the couple is back together.
