TikTok loses its mind over ‘toxic’ reality show clip

TikTok just discovered the 2003 nightmare reality show, Are You Hot?

Are You Hot? is making the rounds on TikTok after a woman shared a clip, as well as her total awe that it ever aired on TV.

The premise of the show is simple: Three judges examine groups of shirtless men and bikini-clad women on a stage in front of a live audience and rate their physical features on a scale of one to 10, with 10 being the “hottest.”

A TikToker who goes by Mills found a clip of the show and couldn’t believe it was real.

“It is so toxic that I even feel bad filming this part without makeup,” Mills said at the beginning of the video.

The subsequent footage features a clip in which the judges tell one contestant that her face was “a five” but her body was “a nine.”

“You need to wear more makeup, unfortunately,” one judge said to another contestant.

“Why would they go on this show?” one TikTok commenter asked. “Don’t they know they’re going to get picked apart?”

“I think the premise is the most attractive would become a model,” Mills answered.

“How did this even get greenlit?” another user questioned.

Are You Hot?: The Search for America’s Sexiest People was canceled after one season and dealt with a lawsuit from Howard Stern, who said the reality show idea was stolen from his radio show, which had a recurring segment where the hosts evaluated people on their attractiveness.
