Who is Bretman Rock? The makeup influencer is now a reality TV star

Bretman Rock is a Hawaii-based YouTuber, beauty influencer and the star of MTV’s Following: Bretman Rock.

Inspired by vlogger Talia Joy and makeup artist Patrick Starrr, Rock shifted his Vine and YouTube channels’ content from comedy to vlogs and makeup tutorials and became a star in the beauty space.

Rock is known for his fierce personality as much as he is for his fierce makeup — he once pole-danced on fire, for example.

Bretman Rock is 22 years old and currently lives in Hawaii.

Rock, an Ilocano, was born in the Philippines on Jul. 31, 1998. His father Edmund Laforga named him after professional wrestlers Bret Hart and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

His family moved to Hawaii when he was 7 years old and as a kid, Rock played baseball, soccer, cross-country and volleyball.

Rock’s father passed away in November 2019. Uninvited fans showed up at the funeral, prompting Rock to speak out.

“Can people just let me be sad for once … So many people showed up to my dad’s funeral uninvited and started taking pics of my dad and my family. Like why? It’s common sense,” Rock wrote on Twitter, according to the Canadian Inquirer.

Rock started to gain an internet following when he was in middle school. By the time he was 17 and a junior in high school, he had more than 2.7 million followers on Instagram. The influencer has 15.4 million Instagram followers, 8.23 million YouTube subscribers and 8.7 million TikTok followers at the time of writing.

His sister, Princess Mae, is also an influencer.

Brock’s younger sister, 20-year-old Princess Mae, is also an internet star. Mae regularly appears in her brother’s videos and has 2.4 million Instagram followers.

Who is Bretman Rock dating? He doesn’t have a boyfriend that we know of.

Rock revealed to Elle in September 2019 that he was in his first relationship at the time.

Right now, I’m in my first ever relationship,” Rock told Elle. “I put so much out online, but one thing that I haven’t put out there is my love life and that’s something that I want to keep to myself really. Because my whole family’s online.”

However, in September 2020, Rock tweeted that fans should look up Big Sean’s fifth song on Spotify. The song was called “Single Again,” which led fans to believe that Rockman and his boyfriend had broken up.

He has an MTV reality show.

Rock’s show MTV Following: Bretman Rock debuted on Feb. 8, 2021. The digital reality series follows Rock and his family in Honolulu. Drama is surely expected to ensue as Rock tries his hand at activities like zip-lining in the jungle and navigates life with his LGBTQIA+ friends.

“Everything is happening so fast,” Rock told Fashion Week Daily of filming the series. “I go to work every day and realize this was just something I’d think about as a kid. I’m living my dream. It’s so surreal. I go to set every day and I’m in awe. I just know I’m made for the camera. This is my calling.”
