12-year-old contortionist discovered unusual talent by accident: ‘I can do it completely naturally’

Liberty Barros is a 12-year-old contortionist from Leicester, U.K.

Barros can bend her body into some pretty outrageous shapes, including practically folding herself backward and numerous other pretzel-like positions. But oddly enough, she discovered her talent by accident.

“A few years ago I saw people doing really flexible stuff in YouTube videos and I wanted to try it because it looked cool and fun,” Liberty told the Leicester Mercury. “So I tried it and did it straight away. Most contortionists you see, they have to get twisted into those positions, but I can do it completely naturally.”

You can peep Barros dressed as Elastigirl, AKA the “bendiest girl in the world,” from Pixar’s animated superhero film The Incredibles. Barros did a handstand on parallel bars and brought her legs completely over her head before getting into a few more strange positions on the floor.

The 12-year-old has traveled the world since discovering her unique talent and has performed in Kuala Lumpur, Malaya and Hollywood. She was even offered a contract with the American youth circus Le PeTIT CiRqUe

Despite the success, Barros is still pretty down-to-earth.

“It was really, really fun to perform in all those places,” Liberty added to the Leicester Mercury. “I really love traveling, but I can’t do it all the time as I have normal home activities to do.”
