6 ways to level up s’mores

S’mores are an outdoor dessert classic, and the tasty treat is always one of the best parts about camping.

A traditional s’more consists of two graham crackers, milk chocolate, and a toasted marshmallow or two. While there’s nothing wrong with the classic, every original can stand a remix, and these 6 takes on the s’more will leave your mouth watering.

1. Bacon s’mores

Tiktok user Ty (@toxifiedbytyduhh) elevates the s’mores experience by switching out the graham crackers with bacon. She does this by intertwining thin bacon strips and cooking them until they are crispy, then adding the marshmallows and chocolate. Ty uses a cooking torch to warm her marshmallows, but you can also heat them over the fire the old fashioned way!

2. Mini s’mores pie

These pies are slightly more portable than the average s’more, and allow for a fork to keep things a little cleaner. Just fill a small graham cracker pie crust with two pieces of milk chocolate, and top it with a handful of mini marshmallows. Place your pie on a baking sheet and bake in the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for five minutes!

3. S’mores pastry braid

This s’mores pastry has no shortage of sugar, but it’ll be worth it. Start with a flat puff pastry, then add a milk chocolate bar in the middle third. Then, add some flattened mini marshmallows, and place a graham cracker piece the size of the chocolate bar on top. Cut diagonally down the sides of the puff pastry, and get braiding. Brush the braid with a whisked egg, add some mini chocolate chips, drizzle some powdered sugar mixed with water, and stick in the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 minutes or until the top is golden!

4. Vegan s’mores bowl

Ashley and Taylor Johnson (@twincoast) know that traditional s’mores aren’t the friendliest to the lactose intolerant and vegan consumers, so they made a liquid alternative. This vegan s’mores bowl is made with four frozen bananas (you can also use coconut cream cubes), a scoop of marshmallow fluff, a splash of vanilla, ¼ cup of chocolate milk, and a handful of chocolate chips, all blended together. Think of it as a s’mores smoothie!

5. S’mores dip

Instead of eating your s’more like a sandwich, try this creative dip method! TikTok user TheTwinsiez (@thetwinsiez) toasts a tray of milk chocolate covered with marshmallows in the toaster oven, then uses the graham crackers to dip into the mixture!

6. S’mores cookies

S’mores just got a lot chewier. To create this delicacy, start by placing a graham cracker on a baking sheet, followed by a piece of milk chocolate as you would with a regular s’more. Next, add a large marshmallow. The final touch? A piece of cookie dough. While baking in the oven, the cookie dough will surround the rest of the ingredients, resulting in a dreamy, sugary treat.
