A 5-year-old boy was pulled over on May 4 by the Utah Highway Patrol while attempting to drive to California to purchase a Lamborghini.
Yes, you read that right: The 5-year-old boy was driving. According to a tweet from the Utah Highway Patrol, a trooper pulled over what he believed to be an “impaired driver” when he discovered the boy instead.
In an interview with BuzzFeed News, Lt. Nick Street said that the boy was going 32 mph in a 70 mph zone, which naturally set off alarm bells.
“There’s a curve in the road and he was kind of having a hard time making the curve,” Street added.
In response, the boy decided to take the car and “go to California to buy one himself.” The only problem? “He only had $3 dollars in his wallet.”
Once the trooper manages to pull the car over, he walks over to the unharmed boy and says, “How old are you? You’re 5 years old? Wow, OK. Where did you learn how to drive a car?”
Street told BuzzFeed that the boy’s parents were at work and he was being babysat by his older sibling when he took the car for a drive.
“He was determined to go get a Lamborghini with the money he had in his wallet,” Street said. “Apparently, he didn’t realize you can get one in Utah.”
