I recently moved into a new place, and furnishing it has been my all-consuming obsession. For the first time in my life, I’m not a renter, so I finally feel like I can and should invest in high-quality furniture that will last.

Recently, I was on the hunt for a storage piece for a corner in my apartment. I wanted it to house a random assortment of things that didn’t have a place. I literally spent days scouring Wayfair, Overstock, West Elm, Houzz and countless others looking for a sideboard, credenza or console that would be just right for my space. As desperation started to set in, I decided to search Etsy. That’s when I found The Resplendent Crow.

Owned by Sucheta B, who got into furniture refinishing in 2014, The Resplendent Crow has pieces on Etsy that will truly take your breath away. From brightly colored dressers and desks to nightstands and armoires, these items are breathtakingly gorgeous.

Many of the items from The Resplendent Crow start as vintage pieces that Sucheta and her team come across. Once they determine something is right for the Etsy shop, they list it as available for a high-quality custom lacquering process. According to the shop page, vintage items will be covered in “nitrocellulose pre-catalyzed lacquer or enamel based paint,” which is essentially a really high gloss, shiny paint. You can choose from a handful of colors on the Etsy shop or work with Sucheta on a custom color.

Given the quality of the original vintage items and the work of transforming them into something new and incredible, The Resplendent Crow’s pieces are definitely an investment. That said, just read any of the more than 1,700 reviews on Etsy, and you’ll soon learn these items are worth the splurge.

“I am positively blown away with this credenza. It’s everything I had hoped it would be and more,” one ecstatic shopper wrote. “You won’t be disappointed with your buy from this amazing furniture artist. Ten out of ten!”

Another happy customer wrote, “Wonderfully finished piece, even more beautiful than expected! And the delivery was smooth and reliable. Hope to be able to buy another piece someday.

After reading many rave reviews, I finally decided to take the plunge and order a custom bar cart from The Resplendent Crow for my home. I can’t wait to see it IRL. If you’ve been looking for a statement piece for your living space, you really should check out this AAPI-owned Etsy shop. It’s a shopper fave with more than 95% five-star reviews, plus the furniture is truly gorgeous and one of a kind.
