A breakup anthem that remixes the alphabet is blowing up TikTok

A 17-year-old girl’s breakup anthem has become a viral TikTok meme.

GAYLE is a teenage singer-songwriter from Nashville and is currently signed with Atlantic Records. In August, she dropped the single “abcdefu” and while the song references the “Alphabet Song,” the lyrics are very mature. Now people are using the breakup song to swear off all the things they wish they could give a great big a-b-c-d-e-f-u to.

Who is GAYLE?

GAYLE has over 400,000 TikTok followers and 61,000 Instagram followers. After releasing the song “dumba**” she caught the attention of Atlantic Records and was signed in May 2020.

The teenager began singing, inspired by Aretha Franklin, when she was seven years old. Although she lived in Dallas, Texas until she was 10, she currently resides in Nashville. She writes all of her own songs.

Last Summer, a TikToker challenged GAYLE to “write a breakup song using the alphabet.” It inspired “abcdefu” which became her first single with Atlantic Records.

“A-B-C-D-E, F-U/ And your mom and your sister and your job/ And your broke-a** car and that s*** you call art,” GAYLE sings
