Woman discovers ‘toxic’ lie about her husband’s unemployment: ‘Dump this loser’

A woman can’t get over the fact that her husband secretly quit his job and saddled her with being the breadwinner and the homemaker.

She took to Reddit’s “Am I the A******? (AITA)” forum for advice. Her husband did more than a “quiet quitting.” He slowly decreased his work hours until he eventually quit his job without telling her. The whole time she was funding his lifestyle of video games and boys’ nights.

“My husband (32) and I (30) have been married for just over a year now and things couldn’t be rockier,” she wrote. “I have a good job and make a decent amount of money, whereas my husband made not as much as me. Due to this, and the fact he was still living with his parents when we got married, we decided he would move in with me and I would continue to pay the rent and bills as long as he put money toward other things we may need as a couple.”

But her husband began to secretly work less. Then he gave the excuse he was working less to do handy work around the house. But the work didn’t get done. Instead, he just played video games and hung out with friends. Eventually, all the household chores fell on her. Then he was fired.

“I began paying for his nights out, subbing him money for trips to look for work, etc. all while I was under the assumption he would be searching for a new job. At least to finance his hobbies,” she explained

Then he revealed he had completely stopped looking for a job altogether. She was fuming.

“I confronted him about how I was doing everything to finance and take care of our household while he sat around and played video games and during this argument he let slip that he had actually quit and never looked for another job. I was furious that he had lied to me and told him I didn’t want him in my home right now,” the Reddit poster said

She sent her husband to live with his parents. But now, he and his family are sour about the situation.

People on Reddit thought the husband’s behavior was a major red flag.

“Dump this loser. He lied fresh out of the gate, there is no option for trust after something like that,” a person commented

“Listen to your gut and be better to yourself. This guy is a toxic parasite,” a user wrote

“This is fraud. He only married you to pay for his lifestyle,” another said.
