On June 15, Lynn Deborah Staffieri, who lives in Magnolia, Del., shared footage captured by her Nest camera on Facebook. In it, the Amazon driver drops a large, square package at Staffieri’s doorstep before she knocks on the woman’s door three times and yells, “Abracadabra!” The driver then runs back to her van as if she were in a hurry.
“Thank you to this great Amazon delivery woman!” Staffieri wrote on Facebook. “Apparently, my youngest son had put some ‘additional instructions’ for delivery and she went along with it. It made us smile even though my son should not have done that so I apologize for that. I do appreciate that the driver looked closely enough at the instructions though because I know a lot of people wouldn’t.”
Along with the video, Staffieri attached a screenshot of the instructions her son had left. When asked whether Amazon’s delivery service needed “additional instructions” to find Staffieri’s address, the woman’s son instead wrote, “No but knock on the door 3 times and scream abra cadabra as loud as you can and run super fast away.”
Staffieri’s post has since gone viral, receiving over 19,000 reactions and nearly 4,000 comments.
“I can’t stop laughing,” one person wrote. “I’m glad I came across this because I was feeling kind of down and needed a good injection of humor.”
“Kudos to the delivery woman!” another added. “I hope her attention to detail is recognized by her supervisors.”
“So there are employees at Amazon who care and take pride in their work,” a third wrote. “Good for the Amazon driver who brought a laugh to the family during these trying [times].”
The Amazon worker has yet to be identified.
