If you’ve been putting off your summer reading list this year, now’s the time to get back on track. And if you need some inspiration to get started, Amazon is offering some major deals on its Kindle Paperwhites so you can take your reading to the next level.

Right now, you can score a Kindle Paperwhite for just under $100. Plus, Amazon is tossing in special offers and a free three-month trial of its Kindle Unlimited subscription at no extra cost. This service allows you to choose from over 1 million E-book titles and thousands of audiobooks.

While the black tablet with 8GB is the only one under $100, the newly released plum and sage colors are also heavily marked down. Additionally, the price of the Paperwhite with 32GB storage has been cut from $154.99 to $124.99.

For those looking to upgrade their reading experience, this tablet has a unique flush-front design and 300 ppi glare-free display. Plus, it’s super lightweight, waterproof and has twice the storage space of other generations. Moreover, this Paperwhite is the thinnest model yet and has a super long battery life. According to the product description, one charge can last for weeks.

Since its 2018 update, the Paperwhite has garnered over 14,000 five-star reviews and more than 38,000 customer ratings on Amazon. One shopper, in particular, raved about the tablet’s readability in sunlight.

“I have a Kindle Fire and have problems reading in the sun,” they wrote. “This Paperwhite works in the sun or the dark. It’s great for reading anywhere. It’s small and light.”

Another reviewer, who identified themselves as an “avid e-reader” with “4,000+ books in their Kindle account,” echoed a similar sentiment.

“First of all, the display is gorgeous,” they wrote. “I love how crisp the lettering is and how the pages actually look like real paper. There’s barely any glare on the screen when held up in sunlight — a huge advantage over the iPad Mini even with the light sensor it has built in.”

Although many shoppers gave the tablet high marks in regards to its size and functionality, some reviewers felt that the battery life did not meet their expectations.

But even so, that didn’t seem to be a complete deal breaker for some. One reader, in particular, mentioned that switching the device to airplane mode can “significantly conserve battery” and that the tablet is “still a great device to read books.”
