When I tell people that I have restless leg syndrome (also known as RLS), they usually laugh. Admittedly, it does sound pretty odd, but trust me, there is nothing funny about the feeling. It’s not exactly painful, but it’s definitely unpleasant. The only way I can describe it is to imagine the bone in the bottom half of your leg is itching. It’s a tickling sensation that you can’t scratch, so it never goes away unless you constantly move your legs.

While most people associate RLS with older people, it actually can affect people of all ages. Take me, for example. I started experiencing symptoms when I was pregnant in my twenties, and it’s gotten progressively worse in the years that followed.

During the day, I basically have no RLS symptoms because I’m moving around and fidgeting a lot. But at night? A whole different story. Sometimes the sensations are so irritating that they wake me up from my sleep!

Desperate for relief, I scoured the web for ways to quell my nighttime RLS so I could sleep better. I came across these Amazon leg compression sleeves. Because they were less than $15, I immediately bought a pair.

These Amazon leg compression sleeves are technically designed for runners to soothe shin splints, but miraculously, they also offer me relief from my RLS. The very first night I wore them, I was able to sleep for seven hours straight before my legs started to tingle. That was a huge feat for me, given that I’d previously been waking up three hours into sleeping with the uncontrollable urge to move my legs.

Fast forward three weeks, and I now have three pairs of these Amazon leg compression sleeves. I literally sleep with them every night, and they haven’t failed me yet.

According to Amazon, the leg compression sleeves also help with varicose veins, muscle fatigue, stress fractures and more. I can’t speak to any of those, but I can tell you that if you have RLS that bothers you at night, try these things. They’ve worked wonders for me, and they just may be the thing that gives you relief, too.
