If you have a communal speaker in your house, then you’re most likely familiar with the familial battle of who gets to pick the playlist. Seeing as most people have their own unique taste, finding music that pleases the whole family can be a struggle. Luckily, giving everyone access to their favorite artists and songs isn’t hard at all.
For just $14.99 a month, you can sign your family (up to six members) up for Amazon Music Unlimited’s Family Plan that will let your whole crew stream music on up to six different devices at the same time. Seeing as the regular subscription comes in at $7.99 a month for individual Prime members, this group package can save you money each month. (Pro tip: If you’re new to Amazon Music Unlimited, you can take advantage of the free trial to get a feel for the service.)
Shop: Amazon Music Unlimited Family Plan, $14.99/month
To get your family started, all family members will need to be invited to the plan by email, have to be at least 13 years old and have a standard Amazon account in order to join. And as a heads up to all of the parents/account holders out there, members on the Family Plan “will be able to make purchases on Amazon with the payment method used for your subscription.”
While there is one family plan, individual accounts aren’t shared and there is no common family profile. With that said, every family member will be able to get personalized recommendations and have access to their own playlists, song library, etc. Essentially, each member on the Family Plan will get to reap the same benefits they would with an individual plan for a bundled price.
Another thing to keep in mind when setting up your family plan is that “the person who signs up for the Family Plan is the subscriber and pays $14.99/month or $149/year (available to Prime members only) using a payment method like a credit or debit card.”
If you plan on hopping on this awesome deal (or the service’s free trial), you might also want to upgrade your at-home set up with one of the room-filling speakers below.
