The best moments from AOC’s first star-studded Twitch stream

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s first Twitch stream was an enormous success featuring a star-studded cast of prominent streamers from Twitch, Facebook and YouTube.

The event, which was organized by AOC and her team, alongside Twitch streamers Imane “Pokimane” Anys and Hasan Piker, was done to encourage voter participation (which you should definitely do!) and was also a genuinely delightful stream of Among Us. AOC’s colleague Ilhan Omar also swung by with her daughter, environmental activist Isra Hirsi.

It was also one of the most popular Twitch streams in history and AOC had over 435,000 concurrent viewers at her peak. Here were some of the best moments.

Pokimane thanked AOC for ruthlessly murdering her

Pokimane followed AOC to protect her from imposters. Unfortunately for her, AOC turned out to be one of the imposters that round and rewarded Pokimane’s loyalty by offing her.

“It was an honor,” Pokimane said on her stream after getting knifed in the back. “It was an honor to serve you.”

Disguised Toast marinated AOC

Jeremy “Disguised Toast” Wang has been lauded as one of the best Among Us players in the world for his baiting and his deductive skills

In Among Us, “marinating” refers to an imposter gaining a crewmate’s trust by seemingly following them as protection only to murder them in the end.

Unfortunately for AOC, Toast buttered her up the whole round before going for the kill. When she voiced her doubts, he assured her that he’d never marinate a sitting member of Congress.

“I would not marinate a congresswoman,” he said on stream.

But don’t worry — AOC got her revenge next round.

Hbomber had a heart-warming reunion with AOC — then promptly snapped her neck

Harry “Hbomberguy” Brewis goes way back with AOC. During his charity stream in 2019, the congresswoman hopped on to talk to Hbomber about trans rights during an impromptu interview. It was AOC’s first exposure to Twitch.

That didn’t stop Hbomber from killing her during his first round as an imposter.

“After everything we’ve been through!” AOC gasped on stream.

Hbomber’s sudden and terrible betrayal has also inspired some hilarious fan art.

Myth voted for the first time this year

Professional Fortnite player Ali “Myth” Kabbani also joined in on the fun and shared that he voted for the first time this year, which AOC and Ilhan Omar were both glad to hear. After all, the entire point of the event was to galvanize Americans to vote.

The 21-year-old streamer thanked AOC for the games and encouraged others to vote as well.

Ilhan Omar is a secret god gamer

Many viewers were surprised to find how quickly Ilhan Omar acclimated to Among Us as a first-timer. For far too long, the congresswoman has hidden her power level from us.

In one round, she teamed up with environmental activist Isra Hirsi (who is also her daughter) against Toast to clutch the victory.

Now this god gamer has shown the world her true strength.

AOC was very distracted by Corpse Husband’s voice

AOC was immediately struck by Corpse Husband’s deep voice, the signature feature of the otherwise mysterious content creator.

Corpse has been exploding in popularity as a horror narrator and a game streamer, but he has still never revealed his face.

Will former President Barack Obama be the next big Twitch streamer after AOC?

All in all, it was a fun and historical event. AOC going on Twitch is quite possibly the first American politician to ever host a live gaming stream and, hopefully, her outreach worked.

Seriously, you should vote.

AOC’s call for streamers to partner with her may have also sparked a new trend of politicians collaborating with streamers.

Shoot your shot, Toast.
