Apartment hunter Juliya is looking for her first apartment in NYC

On this episode of In The Know: Find My Dream Room, host Will Taylor (@brightbazaar) guides Juliya in finding her first NYC apartment. After accepting a job in New York, Juliya is making the move from Washington, D.C. to Manhattan. She’s looking for a one-bedroom apartment with a lot of natural light, a kitchen she can entertain in that also has a gas stove and plenty of counter space, and a good spot where she can unwind at the end of the day, like a bathtub or reading nook. With a budget of $5,000 per month, Will feels certain he can find the perfect apartment for Juliya.

The first spot Will shows Juliya is dubbed “The Manhattan High Rise” with a rent of $4,800 a month. Juliya is immediately taken with the oak paneling and marble backsplash in the kitchen. The kitchen also boasts a dishwasher which wasn’t one of Juliya’s must-haves, but is definitely nice to have. The kitchen leads into a huge dining area which would be perfect for entertaining friends. Spilling out from the dining area is a large living room that fits a massive couch where Juliya could comfortably fit even more guests. Finally, the bedroom is both huge and offers plenty of natural light to wake up to.

The second apartment is aptly named “The Epic View” and it’s easy to see why. Juliya is drawn to the kitchen’s gas stove and the fact that the living area is viewable from the kitchen, so she can cook and entertain at the same time. Floor-to-ceiling windows surround the entire apartment, offering an “epic view” of the New York City skyline. The windows continue into the bedroom, where Juliya can wake up to tons of light and one-of-a-kind vistas. At $5,000 a month, the apartment also offers central air-conditioning, and a closet in the bedroom.

The final unit is way under Juliya’s budget at $4,200 per month, and is referred to as “The Stylish Sanctuary”. The one-bedroom apartment boasts a ton of storage space and an in-unit washer and dryer. The living area, complete with high ceilings and a unique crown molding, is the perfect place to entertain and work from home. The living room leads into the bedroom, which is flooded with natural light and has a large closet for even more storage.

Three weeks later, Juliya reveals that she went with apartment number two because who can say no to that view?
