Bag designer Brandon Blackwood walks away with vintage Chanel during epic shopping spree

Brandon Blackwood, one of the top bag designers in the game, went on an epic shopping spree at What Goes Around Comes Around in New York City, and walked away with over $17,500 worth of vintage Chanel bags.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Brandon is a bag designer whose pieces have been featured at retailers like Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdales, and Nordstrom

As Brandon stepped into What Goes Around Comes Around, he immediately took viewers on a grand tour of the designer bag haven, happily dishing out expertise as well as some personal anecdotes.

The first bag that caught Brandon’s eye was a Fendi Brown Embellished Baby Spy bag. “Right away I see this Fendi spy bag,” Brandon told In the Know. The $1,250 bag reminded Brandon of the tabloid magazines he used to read in middle school. “You’d see like the ‘Parises’ and ‘Lindsays’ of the world walking around. This was the bag bag they all had. And this was the bag that I thought I needed in middle school,” said the designer.

Brandon’s next stop was a $1,405 Louis Vuitton Monogram Canvas Bucket bag, which Brandon immediately felt a personal connection to.

“This bag really reminds me of my grandmother,” Brandon told In the Know. “She used to have a slightly larger Louis Vuitton bucket bag. It was one of the first times I really saw a designer bag and I knew it was special right away from a young age because she still had it in the dust bag and she would keep it all the way at the top of her closet with like, nothing else near it.”

Brandon continued, saying that whenever his grandmother would leave the house, he would wear the bag around the house like he was “frickin Beyoncé.”

The designer then fell “Crazy in Love” with a $1,568 Chanel White Lambskin Clutch. “This is something I would totally wear,” said Brandon. “What am I gonna put in it? I have no clue. At that point it doesn’t even matter. It’s just cute.”

Brandon then went deeper into the Chanel rabbit hole, finding two vintage bags that he eventually decided to purchase. He also decided to buy a $2,250 Chanel Black Caviar Vanity Wide bag.

“I’ve always seen this, [but have] never actually held one in person before,” Brandon told In the Know. The boxy style of the bag fit perfectly with his aesthetic. “If you know my collection, you know I love a strong boxy moment,” said Brandon.

When it was time to check out, Brandon’s total was $17,670. “Vintage Chanel clearly has my heart,” said Brandon. “For ever, and ever, and ever.”
