There are few events guaranteed to garner discussion, fanfare and excitement across the world. Sure, there are exciting holidays like New Year’s Eve — but then there’s Apple’s new product keynote events.

The tech juggernaut made headlines yet again with the announcement of the highly anticipated iPhone 12 during its last iPhone-centric keynote presentation on Oct. 13, 2020. Four new iPhone 12 models were launched, during the event, and they quickly became some of the hottest new smartphones on the market.

Two of the most popular devices in the lineup are the iPhone 12 and the iPhone Pro.

The iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro retail at starting prices of $799 and $999, respectively.

The iPhone 12 boasts a 6.1-inch “Super Retina XDR” display. In terms of size, it sits just between the iPhone 12 Mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max.

Setting it apart from the iPhone 11 and many of the iPhone’s earlier iterations, the iPhone 12 lineup of phones features flat edges, maintaining a nearly edge-to-edge display.

The iPhone 12 runs on Apple’s new A14 bionic chip, which the company says guarantees 15 percent faster speeds and 30 percent more power efficiency than the A13 chip. Along with the other newly released iPhones, the iPhone 12 also supports mmWave and sub-6 5G connectivity in the U.S.

But one of the most shocking tidbits about these new Apple launches is the fact that EarPods and a charging adapter no longer come in the iPhone’s box. (Shocking news, we know!)

So whether you already have your device or are still waiting for it to arrive, we’ve rounded up 11 must-have accessories to buy in place of the previously included iPhone accessories.

1. Apple AirPods Pro, $219.99 (Orig. $249)

Credit: Amazon

Why you should buy it:

For the first time, Apple has decided to no longer include wired EarPods and a charging adapter in the box. Instead, the packaging just includes the iPhone 12 and a USB-C cable.

To ensure that you can get the most out of your new iPhone, Apple’s latest AirPods Pros are a recommended investment. They’re currently $30 off on Amazon, so snag them before this deal ends.

2. Anker USB-C Wall Charger, $16.99

Why you should buy it:

Since the packaging no longer includes a “charging block,” investing in a new, long-lasting option from a reliable brand is your best bet. This option from Anker has garnered over 38,000 reviews on Amazon and has an overall rating of 4.8 stars. It was also recently upgraded to best suit the iPhone 12.

3. PhoneSoap 3 Smartphone UV Sanitizer, $79.95

Credit: Amazon

Why you should buy it:

Sanitizing tech devices are now a must, as studies show that phones can actually be 10 times dirtier than a toilet seat. In an effort to ensure that your device remains sanitary with every use, we recommend investing in a UV sanitizing device like the PhoneSoap.

The popular device kills 99.99 percent of germs on the phone’s surface and fits all smartphones and most cases. It also includes two charging ports to allow it to act as a universal charger for your device.

4. Satechi Aluminum 2-In-1 Magnetic Wireless Charging Stand, $59.99

Credit: Amazon

Why you should buy it:

If you love the new MagSafe feature built into the iPhone 12 lineup, then this two-in-one charging stand is a no-brainer. In addition to perfectly displaying your phone in a floating position while it charges, the compact device also charges your AirPods right underneath.

5. Ampere HyperCube Wireless Charging Station And Sleep Aid, $169.95

Credit: Ampere

Why you should buy it:

One of the star features of the iPhone 12 is its wireless charging capabilities, so why not ditch the cables altogether and charge your device with a Qi-enabled charger?

As a bonus, the Ampere HyperCube allows you to charge up to three Qi-enabled devices at once, so you have your AirPods on the cube simultaneously. It also serves as a nightstand alarm clock, a wake-up light, a sleep aid and includes 10 other functions.

6. Nomad Base Station Pro, $199.95

Why you should buy it:

If you’d prefer a more luxe wireless charging pad that’s minimal and power-packed, Nomad’s Base Station Pro is my top recommendation.

Unlike most other charging mats, this option has a premium leather upper and features inner technology that allows you to rest up to three Qi-enabled devices at once in any position. This means there’s no more need to ensure that your phone is perfectly straight to begin charging). Also, as a bonus, shoppers will get a complimentary Apple Watch mount to attach to the device upon purchase, making this a four-in-one gadget.

7. Casetify Custom iPhone 12 Case, $65

Why you should buy it:

After investing in a premium device, it’s important to protect it. Popular device case and accessories retailer Casetify released a collection of protective cases specifically designed for the iPhone 12, boasting all-around protection. The line now also includes new MagSafe cases, so there’s a lot to choose from.

These cases come in seven colors and start at $50. Shoppers can also customize them with a label or special colorway to fit their personal style.

8. Ailun Tempered Glass iPhone 12 Screen Protector, $5.99 (Orig. $6.98)

Credit: Amazon

Why you should buy it:

For reinforced device protection, we recommend investing in a tempered glass screen protector. A survey conducted by OnePoll found that the average American “drops their phone on the ground four times every week.” A screen protector can serve as a simple preventative solution, and this massively popular option (approved and designed for the iPhone 12) retails for only $7.

9. Case Mate Glass Screen Protector, $15 (Orig. $30)

Credit: Case Mate

Why you should buy it:

While quality phone screen protectors don’t need to be expensive to get the job done, some folks prefer getting theirs from a brand they trust, even if that means spending a bit more.

Case Mate is one of the most reliable names in the phone accessories space, and the iPhone 12 tempered glass screen protectors feature “maximum scratch protection, high touch sensitivity, anti-fingerprint technology” and more. Also, they’re effortless to apply and are super thin.

10. Logitech K380 Multi-Device Bluetooth Keyboard, $28.99 (Orig. $39.99)

Credit: Amazon

Why you should buy it:

As feature-packed as the iPhone 12 lineup is, most folks are likely using these devices for far more than calling and texting. If you fall under this group, investing in a wireless Bluetooth keyboard could do you some good; and this one from Logitech supports up to three devices. Toggle between your new phone, your laptop and your tablet with just the press of a button!

11. MOFT Snap-On MagSafe Compatible Stand & Wallet For iPhone 12 Series, $28.99 (Orig. $34.99)

Credit: Amazon

Why you should buy it:

One of the new and most popular features built into the latest iPhones is MagSafe technology. In addition to magnetically connecting the phone to charging sources, the coils in the center-back of the device also perfectly support magnetic wallets and this option from MOFT is already a best seller.

The chic leather accessory triples as a phone stand, wallet and wall-mount and just looks cool and sleek in hand.
