I’ve never been a fan of rain boots. Something about the typically brightly colored, clunky rubber would always put me off, so when it rained, I would put on my leather boots and try to avoid puddles at all costs.
However, one day, my friend was wearing these cute black Chelsea boots that, upon further inspection, turned out to be rain boots from Amazon. Later that day, I bought myself a pair and have happily been wearing them every rainy day since.
The Asgard Ankle Waterproof Chelsea Boots are a No. 1 best seller on Amazon and surprisingly comfortable and durable considering how cheap they are. The boots come in 15 different colors, including yellow, green and burgundy, but the black never fails to go with everything in my closet.
I’ve worn these boots to my office while running errands, and I’ve even worn them out to bars on rainy nights (remember when offices and bars were a thing?). While the shoes are totally waterproof and never fail to keep my feet dry, I love that they’re passable as regular black boots. They aren’t overly clunky like combat boots can be, and they aren’t made with a high-shine rubber that would immediately give away their true purpose. They’re as basic as can be, but that’s the beauty of them.
On Amazon, the boots have earned a 4.6 out of 5-star rating with over 9,600 five-star reviews. The shoes’ fit is true to size, and I’ve surprisingly never dealt with blisters or any discomfort from the rubber. But I will suggest wearing ankle socks to protect your heels from the high back of the shoe.
