Traveling is scary enough, but for so many travelers, a new fear was unlocked when experts shared how easy it is to break into standard zippered suitcases — and all it takes is a pencil.

Luckily, there’s a solution to this common concern, and it’s simply investing in zipperless luggage with no exposed zippers for the main compartment.

Travel expert on TikTok @millennialwealthsarah showed just how easy it is to break into a suitcase using a pencil or any semi-sharp object and gave a few tips on what types of luggage to avoid.

“Basically, what they’re doing is they’re taking their pen, and they’re just pushing between there, and they’re getting into your suitcase,” she said while demonstrating how it’s done and even going on to show how physically locking your zipper with a standard suitcase lock serves no purpose.

When offering solutions, she recommended investing in zipperless luggage since they have no openings that can be easily compromised. Also, these suitcases all have TSA-approved locking systems that let you set your own personal code that only you know. That way, your suitcase stays locked at all times unless it’s in your presence and you choose to unlock it yourself.
