Before we get into everything, there are two things you need to know about me: I can never skip a good sale, and as of three days ago, I consider leopard print a neutral.
As a born and raised New Yorker, my closet is mostly black. And, like most people, I developed a very strong fondness for athleisure during the pandemic. So my dresser was stocked with leggings and bike shorts in all black everywhere. Now that the outside world is defrosting, I wanted to ditch my practical black athleisure look for something a little more fun. Something that will genuinely make me smile and fill my heart with joy.
While scrolling the digital racks of Nordstrom Rack to find all of you great deals on your favorite items (you’re welcome, by the way), my heart stopped. There they were: A pair of leopard bike shorts on sale for only $5, and as fun and loud as I could ever dream.

I have never in my life smashed “add to cart” as fast as I did when I saw these. Four days later, they arrived at my apartment door. The moment I opened up the package from Nordstrom Rack and pulled these bad boys out of the plastic wrapping, I may have started to tear up a bit. They were perfect.
Unlike most bike shorts, these are soft and — while still tight and compressive — don’t make your stomach and thighs want to scream out for relief. A major win.
Since they arrived, I’ve worn them out to grab groceries, while working remotely and during a virtual P.volve workout. While the $5 leopard print miracle held up during all of those activities (yes, even a workout!), my favorite way to wear them so far has been with an oversized sweatshirt and mid-calf socks, shamelessly copying Princess Diana.
If you’re not into the leopard like I am — which, fine, I get it and won’t be mad — the bike shorts are also on sale for $3.97 to $5 in most colors. I just might go back and get them in the pink candy colorway.
