Let me start off by saying, I never thought I could love a glass water bottle as much as I do.
As environmental efforts have increased over the years, so have reusable water bottle options — from metal to plastic, I have quite a few of them stored in my kitchen. Nonetheless, while at a promotional event for an electrolyte drink last year, I received a bkr glass water bottle and soon, it was the only one I reached for. I recently even purchased a second one!
While hydration and sustainability are probably the main goals of every water bottle company, bkr was also founded with beauty at top of mind. According to the brand’s website, in 2011, founders Tal Winter and Kate Cutler created “the original glass water bottle” with the idea that “drinking water is the foundation for soft, dewy, pretty skin – and wtf – hydrating shouldn’t be so hard.”
It sounds ridiculous, but this isn’t your ordinary sipper. Here’s why I love it:
- It’s easy-to-clean
- It’s chic and fashionable
- The bottle and cap are made BPA-free and phthalate-free
- It has a hidden compartment for storing lip balm and other things
The bkr glass water bottle has a screw on cap with a small handle for carrying. That doesn’t sound super amazing, but its simple design makes it really easy to clean every nook and cranny — it’s even dishwasher safe.
However, one thing that makes the bkr glass water bottle stand out is that you can customize it with your choice of silicone sleeve, giving it its chic aesthetic with a little added protection. Choose from a range of colors — some sleeves have decorative spikes or sassy phrases. If you want more than one for updating your bottle, additional sleeves are available for purchase.

Seven years after launching the original design outlined above, bkr launched a new, specialty cap filled with a vegan, hydrating lip balm (which the team worked to develop over the course of five years).
The lip balm comes in six different shades and easily pops in and out of the cap, so you can clean the bottle without worrying about your balm. Plus, you can get refills or extra balms to pop in when you run out.

If you’re already stocked on lip products, last year bkr started selling caps without the lip balm and with an empty compact in its place. They realized that without the balm, you can store medications, vitamins, mints, hair ties, candy or whatever in the cap, for taking on the go.

Both caps are sold with water bottles as part of a Kiss Kit or Keep Kit, but you can purchase single caps, compacts and balms separately, for upgrading your bottle. For example, if you want both cap options, you can purchase a Kiss Kit (which includes the water bottle, regular cap, compact cap and lip balm) for $54 and an extra compact for $9.
The bkr glass water bottle comes in three sizes: teeny (250 ml), little (500 ml) and big (1 L). I personally found that the little one was light enough to throw in my bag or carry on its own, while also providing enough to drink. I started with a little one decorated in a black silicone sleeve and recently bought a second little one with the plain doe sleeve, and an additional spiked BTS sleeve (see below).

If your goal is to drink more water and look good doing it, bkr might be your answer. While being in quarantine, I’ve challenged myself to stay hydrated and my bkr glass water bottle is helping me do it.
