Boozy peppermint hot cocoa shooters are the perfect holiday treat

Temperatures are dropping and sometimes the best way to stay warm is a comforting mini drink.

Fortunately, In The Know’s AmiLin McClure has got the perfect spiked peppermint hot chocolate recipe. There’s nothing like a cup of hot cocoa to give your insides a nice warm hug — and a little extra something to take the edge off of how weird the holidays are in 2020.

These rich and minty shooters are not only tasty but highly Instagrammable, thanks to the colorful red and white toppings.

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup peppermint schnapps
  • 3/4 cup hot chocolate
  • Peppermint candy canes, crushed
  • Whipped cream

First, you’ll want to make your hot cocoa on the stove or microwave. Any instant brand should work. AmiLin opted to use milk as the base of hers.

Then she poured the cocoa, while still hot, into a measuring glass.

“Now, to make it boozy I’m going to add the peppermint schnapps,” AmiLin said.

Next, she poured the spiked cocoa into five shot glasses (there’s always points for presentation!).

“So I thought it’d be really cute if I made mini versions of this drink. I have my mixture here and I just wanted to pour it into the shot glasses,” she said.

Finally, she topped each shot with a dollop of whipped cream and crushed candy cane pieces for a festive, decorative effect.

“I love how these turned out and I think they’re the perfect way to get into the holiday spirit,” AmiLin said.
