But now? Preparing three meals every day for another human and myself has completely zapped out all the joy. I go between feeling very blah about cooking to absolutely hating the thought of figuring out what to make for dinner.
Luckily, I have found a way to rekindle some of that old fire I used to feel. Experimenting with new ingredients definitely makes meals feel a bit more exciting and less mundane. I’m not usually an adventurous eater, but I’m taking every opportunity I get to try new things these days.
Recently, I was given the opportunity to sample Brightland’s new Rosette blend, a garlic olive oil.
Like all Brightland varieties, hand-picked olives from a small family farm in California are the new Rosette blend’s hero ingredient. This may seem inconsequential, but you can truly taste the difference. When combined with the subtle garlic flavors, this olive oil is borderline addictive. I first tried it with just a plain baguette, and before I even realized it, half the bread was gone, and I’d soaked up all the olive oil from the plate I was using to dip.
I’d obviously recommend this new Brightland garlic olive oil on taste alone, but it doesn’t hurt that the bottle looks super pretty on my kitchen counter. It features artwork by Lilian Martinez, a California-based artist who is also a woman of color.

Whether you actually like to cook with olive oil or you prefer to use it for finishing dishes, Brightland’s garlic olive oil is definitely worth the splurge.
