Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is now free for PlayStation Plus gamers

PlayStation gamers, get ready to throw it back to 2009.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered — the newly updated version of the beloved first-person shooter — is coming to PlayStation Plus in August.

The game will be completely free to subscribers starting on July 28, according to PlayStation.Blog. August’s other free game, Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout, will arrive on August 4.

Fall Guys, developed by Mediatonic, is a stylized multiplayer game that’s drawn comparisons to Rocket League in the run-up to its release. According to, the game asks players to “bend, bounce and bash [their] way through hilarious physics-based obstacles.”

Meanwhile, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered brings new graphics and features to the classic shooter. The updated game was originally released in March 2020.

Now, it’ll be available throughout August for PlayStation Plus members — completely free of charge. For those interested in giving the service a go, subscriptions cost $59.99 per year.

The subscription includes new features, increased storage capacity and of course, access to a new set of free games each month.
