Cardi B was unveiled as the fourth cover star for Vogue’s January 2020 issue, and the cover also features her daughter, Kulture Kiari.
The “Bodak Yellow” rapper, who is the first female rapper to appear on the cover of American Vogue, and her 17-month-old daughter are matching in red for the Annie Leibovitz-shot cover, with Cardi wearing a tea-length Michael Kors dress covered in white polka-dots and Kulture wearing red bloomers. The mother-daughter duo’s likeness is uncanny in the photo.
Kulture also joined her mother for Vogue’s signature “73 Questions” segment, which was released ahead of the cover reveal. During the 15-minute video, Kulture is asleep in her mother’s arms.
Cardi B, 27, joins director/actress Greta Gerwig, designer Stella McCartney and model Ashley Graham as the cover stars for Vogue’s January issue, which has “Vogue Values 2020: It’s time to fashion the future,” written on each cover.
“For our January 2020 issue, Vogue celebrates four fearless creative forces, role models, and mothers with a quartet of covers,” the outlet wrote on Instagram.
“Everybody has issues,” she said. “I believe in forgiveness. I prayed on it. Me and my husband, we prayed on it. We had priests come to us. And we just came to an understanding like, bro, it’s really us against the world.”
“He has my back for everything, I have his back for everything, so when you cheat, you’re betraying the person that has your back the most,” she added. “Why would you do that? We have come to a clear understanding. For me, monogamy is the only way. I’ll beat your a– if you cheat on me.”
She also revealed how she dealt with the criticism that she received for deciding to continue her romance with her husband after his infidelity, saying that fans told her that she “let all of us down.”
“When me and my husband got into our issues — you know, he cheated and everything — and I decided to stay with him and work together with him, a lot of people were so mad at me; a lot of women felt disappointed in me,” Cardi said. “But it’s real-life sh–. If you love somebody and you stop being with them, and you’re depressed and social media is telling you not to talk to that person because he cheated, you’re not really happy on the inside until you have the conversation. Then, if you get back with them, it’s like, how could you? You let all of us down.”
