There’s been no shortage of drama on Summer House this season, but Carl Radke is confident that there are brighter days ahead for his friend group.

The original cast member of the New York Hamptons-set Bravo hit ended Season 7 by proposing to Lindsay Hubbard, another original star of the show. While the pair had been a couple for about a year, they’d known each other for over seven. Still, their engagement sparked a range of reactions from their co-stars — while some joined in their happiness, others questioned how quickly they perceived them to be moving.

Set to get married this November in Mexico, Carl and Lindsay are resolute about not letting some of their cast’s negativity overshadow one of the happiest days of their lives. Not only that but there’s hope for some healing coming out of this season’s reunion, which airs later this month.

In the latest episode of In The Know by Yahoo’s pop culture interview series We Should Talk, Carl reflected on all things Season 7 and shared a lot of new context around his romantic proposal to Lindsay, what really happened that day in the Hamptons and whether he looks back on the series of events differently in hindsight. He also discussed Danielle Olivera’s intense reaction to the news, the hopeful future of his friendship with Kyle Cooke, what he hopes subsequent seasons of the show look like and wanting to continue using his platform to raise awareness about addiction and sobriety.

“I don’t think Kyle, Lindsay or myself could’ve ever imagined after Season 1 that we would’ve been at Season 7. We were just hoping to get to the next summer. It’s such a big part of our life, and it’s been so authentic because that’s what we do in the summer! I always hoped that it would evolve and grow with us, which I feel like Summer House has. I’d like to think that there’s another year or two left on our belts,” Carl told In The Know. “I’m learning to come into my own about how to talk and be emotional and how to navigate living in this house, but I’ve watched myself back and there’s a lot more that I want to come back [and do differently]. I want to be a lot more vocal, a lot more opinionated; I’m not going to be quiet and run away from challenges. There’s more to me wanting to be out there.”
