How you prep your skin prior to applying makeup can make a huge difference in the final product. Proper skin prep can help with an even makeup application, and can help keep your look lasting longer. On this episode of In the Know: Beauty School, celebrity makeup artist and host, Kirin Bhatty (@kirinstagram), shares her tips, tricks, and go-to products when it comes to prepping your skin for the perfect makeup application.

Bhatty shares that she prepped the model’s skin with the Sisley Black Rose Cream Masque beforehand. “It uses gorgeous properties from black roses,” explains the makeup artist as she massages the model’s face to stimulate the skin and incorporate the product. Bhatty gently massages the model’s cheekbones, jawline, forehead and neck.

Aside from using her own fingers and hands, Bhatty also uses the Jillian Dempsey Gold Bar to massage and lift the model’s skin. The host demonstrates how to use the gold bar by gently pushing it up to sculpt the model’s cheekbones and jawline. “This has a beautiful vibrating sensation that really gets all the blood flowing and helps me carve out those bones, and get makeup-ready skin for contour and a beautiful glow as well,” shares Bhatty.

Next, Bhatty sprays some Ranavat Hydrating Jasmine Mist to rehydrate the model’s skin, and then uses the Lanshin Intro Gua Sha Tool to lift, carve, and tighten the skin. The Gua Sha tool also helps to increase circulation and glow. Finally, Bhatty gives one last spritz of the mist to seal everything in.

These small skin prep steps can go a long way when it comes to a flawless and long-lasting makeup look!
