An Insane Clown Posse song has TikTokers embracing their inner Juggalo

Gen Z has discovered Insane Clown Posse on TikTok and the result is pretty much what you’d imagine.

While TikTokers may not be identifying as “Juggalos” just yet, they seem to have taken to at least one of the band’s songs. Insane Clown Posse’s brash lyrics allow listeners to live out their slasher film fantasies. The music may not be ripe with beautiful imagery, but it will definitely get you in the mood for Halloween.

Who is Insane Clown Posse?

Gen X and millennials will at least have heard of Insane Clown Posse thanks to numerous controversies. The horrorcore rap-rock duo is known for their black and white clown makeup. Members, Shaggy 2 Dope (Joseph Utsler) and Violent J (Joseph Bruce) founded the band in 1989. Insane Clown Posse has sold 6.5 million records to their rabid fanbase known as Juggalos.

Their music often uses violent imagery as a metaphor and allegory for life in poverty in Detroit. The group has been banned from performing in various cities due to their fanbase being implicated in serious crimes like murders and gang violence. Juggalos have even been classified as a gang by the FBI. Many Juggalos, however, feel they are misunderstood and misrepresented in the media.

“We get outcast because of who the media portrays us to be,” Brett, a self-identified Juggalo told In The Know. “But we’re just out here having a good time and loving one another as family.”

In 2010, Shaggy 2 Dope and Violent J revealed they were actually Evangelical Christians and their music was really been about their faith all along.

TikTokers have become a fan of Insane Clown Posse’s song “Chop Chop Slice”

The Halloween season seems to have ushered a resurgence in Insane Clown Posse’s music. The track “Chop Chop Slice” fits perfectly with TikTokers spooky videos. There are currently 1.1 million videos associated with the sound.

The lyrics are

“Alright! Put your hatchets out!

Chop chop chop chop

Swing swing swing swing

NOW MUUURDEEER

Swing swing swing swing

(POLICE SIREN)

Uh oh! Here come the PO PO

Too much murder.”

TikToker @benjikrol said he got a little “carried away” as he lip-synced to the song as his clown makeup became more and more sinister.

The user @snitchery used the sound to transition into various Halloween costumes including Jason, Ghostface and Momo.

Cosplayer @me__in threw a tantrum over their broken Dalgona candy when they dressed up as Gi-hun from Squid Game

This isn’t the first time “Chop Chop Slice” made waves on TikTok. In 2019, a different part of its lyrics was used as an excuse for kids to cuss out their parents.

The part of the song goes:

“And you know Juggalos ain’t never afraid to cuss

Open the windows and let it out

Come on! Here we go!”

The teenager @bananaaahannah notably got in trouble with her mom after lip-syncing to the swear word-laden song.
