Custard toast is the latest food trend taking over TikTok

Custard toast, also called yogurt toast, has quickly become TikTok’s latest food trend. Considering the recipe has just a few ingredients and only takes about 15 minutes to prepare, the breakfast dish seems destined for viral fame.

For those looking to try this unexpected toast upgrade, TikToker and chef My Nguyen (@myhealthydish) has the perfect recipe to get you started.

With more than 3 million TikTok followers, Nguyen is known for her recipes that elevate classic recipes with a surprising twist.

As Nguyen demonstrates in a TikTok video, to make the custard toast, start by whisking together Greek yogurt, an egg, cinnamon and a drizzle of agave, which you can also substitute with maple syrup.

Once combined, spoon the custard onto two bread slices followed by frozen berries. Then bake at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 10 minutes.

After baking, pour on some more agave, and enjoy the sweet and satisfying combo of textures and flavors.

“Looks great and easy”

Viewers were salivating over Nguyen’s custard toast in addition to her Squid Game-themed jacket.

“It looks so good! Definitely will make tomorrow before brunch,” raved one user.

“Looks great and easy. [I] will try it too, thanks! And nice jacket,” one TikToker complimented.

“Don’t forget to push the bread, so it [kind of] makes a bowl. [By the way] love your jacket, My,” another viewer admired.

The recipe for custard toast is so simple, which makes it an easy dish to customize and present as elaborately or as casually as you’d like.

For instance, TikToker and chef Danicka Thomas (@danickathomas_) used round bread slices resembling charming ramekin dishes in her TikTok recipe video for a decorative presentation.

Whether you’re trying to level up your cooking skills or think outside the box when it comes to traditional meals, this custard toast is definitely worth a try.
