Cyberpunk 2077 fans have just gotten an early, unplanned preview of the game’s map.
Leakers on Reddit and ResetEra (thanks, PC Gamer) shared some of the bonus items that come with the physical edition of the game, including a map of Night City, the dystopian neon metropolis where Cyberpunk takes place.
The map shows off the six districts of Night City: Watson, Westbrook, Santo Domingo, Heywood, Pacifica and City Center. The unofficial 7th district, the Badlands, is not marked on the map. Each of the districts is controlled by a respective gang that has a specific culture and mission in the complex fabric of Night City.
At first glance, Cyberpunk’s world doesn’t seem very large. It’s certainly smaller than the enormous sprawl that was The Witcher 3’s world, which spanned two land regions, three major cities and a chain of islands (not including the new areas added in the expansion packs).
But keep in mind that the lands of The Witcher 3 are roughly medieval-era settlements whereas Night City is a densely populated, futuristic megacity. There’s a lot of people and things packed into that area, including the skyscrapers you’ll be able to enter and the aforementioned Badlands which lies on the rugged outskirts of the city limits.
The leaked postcards also show off Pacifica (inspired by Santa Monica, right down to the iconic Pacific Wheel), Japantown and El Coyote Cojo, which the player character V will visit to unwind and find more gigs.
All of this new information is coming on the heels of another big news break: Cyberpunk 2077 has gone gold. “Gone gold” is the industry term for when the game is finished and ready for public sales. All that’s left now is the final stage which is mass production, shipping and release.
