Everything we know about the David Dobrik documentary (so far)

A documentary about controversial YouTuber David Dobrik is finally dropping on March 12.

Directed by fellow YouTuber Casey Neistat, Under the Influence will follow Dobrik’s “rise and fall” as he navigates internet fame and numerous scandals. Over the years, the influencer has been embroiled with sexual assault allegations and the near-fatal accident of his friend Jeff Wittek during the filming of a Vlog Squad video.

Needless to say, Dorbik has recently lost some goodwill among fans. But whether the documentary exists to expose or redeem him remains a mystery.

What we know about Under the Influence

The documentary follows Dobrik’s handling of the allegations and the attempted “cover-up” of Wittek’s accident among other things.

Under the Influence’s description reads

“When Casey Neistat first sat down to interview YouTube sensation, David Dobrik, neither of them knew they were about to capture one of the most precipitous rise and falls in the history of the internet… in real-time. David, protected by the belief that he’s just a kid with a camera, has constantly assumed risks.”

“Even as a story of a sexual assault breaks, he’s busy covering up a near-lethal accident caught on film, intended to be entertainment. In the real world, these kinds of actions have life-changing consequences, but in the gold rush ecosystem of Social Media influence, the audience decides who succeeds, and who gets banished forever.”
