TikToker shares dishwasher hack that makes washing tall glasses easy

This brilliantly simple dishwasher hack makes washing tall cups and thermoses easier than ever.

The dishwasher is such a common appliance that it’s easy to assume you know all of its ins and outs. But TikTokers have started sharing a dishwasher hack that uses a feature you might not know exists.

In a recent video, Nebraska-based TikToker and mom Courtney (@motherofgretnadragons) shared a TikTok where she tested out the life-changing hack, which makes it easier to wash tall cups, thermoses and other unconventionally shaped dishes that you may struggle to fit in the top of your dishwasher.

Courtney starts by sharing the post that inspired her to try the hack. In that video, TikToker Life Hack Dad (@lifehackdad) reveals a dishwasher hack that he claims “nobody is talking about.” The TikToker opens his dishwasher and slides the top rack forward. The rack is full of dishes, including a tall metal thermos.

Because the thermos is so tall, the TikToker is unable to close the top dishwasher rack. Fortunately, he knows how to fix the situation. The TikToker slides the rack all the way out, then pinches together two plastic tabs located on the sides of the rack. The dishwasher rack slides several inches down, creating more space for the dishes.

Next, Courtney tests out the hack to see if it works for her. The mom stares into the camera with a look of shock on her face, then opens her own dishwasher.

“How did I not know this?” she asks in a caption.

Courtney opens her own dishwasher and slides the top drawer out, then locates the plastic tabs on its sides. She pinches the tabs together and watches as the drawer lowers several inches, proving that the original TikToker’s hack really is using a common dishwasher feature!

TikTok users were shocked by the discovery

“I wouldn’t know anything if I didn’t have TikTok,” one viewer commented.

“I just did it to mine. Thank you!” another grateful TikToker wrote.

“I guess we should have read the manual after all,” joked another viewer.
